Tectonic Setting of the Syenite Around Igarra, Southwestern Nigeria: Constraints from Geochemistry
نویسندگان
چکیده
Syenites are relatively rare within the Nigerian Basement Complex. As a result of their rarity, these rocks have been given less research attention over time and consequently poorly understood. The syenitic at Igarra were studied to ascertain tectonic evolution using geochemistry. Sampling was carried out survey-type geological field mapping approach. A total 10 samples collected for laboratory analyses. Compositionally, intermediate with regards SiO2 content (58.02% – 60.58%), having Al2O3 alkali (Na2O + K2O) compositional ranges 15.34% 15.52% 8.99% 9.7% respectively. sampled similar consistent in trace earth elements concentrations (the only exception being Zr values ranging from 4 ppm 79 ppm). enriched Ba, K, TI, Sr but depleted Tc, Nb, U, Hf, Yb, Te Ta. syenites also show fairly high ratios Rb/Nb Rb/Sr mean 488.627 0.171 seen geochemical analyses, around high-K calcalkaline, alkalic alkalic-calcic. peraluminous character as shown by bivariate plot A/NK vs. A/CNK. Sedimentary protolith continental crustal parent magma is inferred rocks. similarity consistency trends major, indicative cogenetic origin geochemistry discrimination plots indicate geodynamic setting orogenic post-orogenic. volcanic arc geotectonic interpreted syenites, emplacement thought initiated during late stages Pan-African reactivation continued into post-orogenic times.

Petrography, geochemistry and tectonic setting of the Gharabolagh intrusive mass in North Hashtrud, East Azarbaijan
The plutonic body of Bostanabad-Meyaneh belt formed during the Cenozoic magmatism on the weast Alborz-Azarbaijan zone. The Oligocene plutonic rocks consist of alkaligranite, granodiorite and biotitegranite, intruded into the Eocene volcanic-sedimentary rocks. The predominant textures are granular, graphic and perthite. Geochemical evidence reveals that they are cogenetic and have features typic...

The Kuhkamar shale with a thickness of 354 m is composed of siliciclastic rocks (sandstone and shale). Petrography studies of the sandstones in this area show two petrofacies including arkose and sub-arkose. These sandstones composed of sub rounded to moderately sorted; therefore, compositionaly to texturaly, they are immature to submature with mono and polycrystalline quartz and k-feldespar. I...

The stress configuration and tectonic analysis of the Pan – African orogeny is drawn from the Igarra schist belt, southwestern Nigeria. The analysis of conjugate shear fractures of the schist belt indicates that two distinct compressive events (NE – SW and E – W) occurred in this Pan – African mobile zone. The palaeostress systems reveal a clockwise rotation of compressional axis from D1 (NE – ...

SahebDivan porphyry copper system is located in Alborz-Azarbaijan magmatic zone at northwest Iran. Based on geological surveys, petrographic and geochemical studies, indicated that mineralized stock in this system mainly cosists of granodiorite, diorite and monzonite rocks. These rocks are peraluminous and belong to high-K calc-alkaline and shoshonitic magma series and plotted in the field of I...
